Through the investigation of existing industrial buildings, analyses the characteristics of industrial building environmental control, shape coefficient, window-to-wall ratio and thermal performance of envelopes. The results show that the variation range of shape coefficient of industrial buildings is smaller than that of civil buildings, with a shape coefficient of less than 0.15 in almost 90% of industrial buildings. The variation range of window-to-wall ratio of industrial buildings is smaller than that of public buildings, and similar to residential buildings. The envelope thermal performance requirements of first category industrial buildings are lower than those of civil buildings in severe cold zone and cold zone, but slightly higher than those of residential buildings in hot summer and cold winter zone and hot summer and warm winter zone.
